Adventure Of Diffusion

12.04.2018

Diffusive Spreading in Nature, Technology and Society

Speaking of diffusion leads most frequently to thinking of the random motion of atoms and molecules. The phenomenon of random walk is, however, also observed at a multiplicity of other objects, which comprise living beings as bacteria, plants, animals and men and even information, rumour, innovations and our language. A new book deals with the common principles behind the phenomena of diffusion and spread. Contributions are from leading scientists of disciplines which could not be more diverse. They reach from natural sciences and technology as far as archaeology, epidemiology, linguistics and sociology.
